First off…a big THANK YOU to those who voted in the Nickelodeon Parents’ Pick awards – you picked me! In light of the favorite family photographer honor, I thought it appropriate to write a little about family sessions and share some of my work that falls into the family category since most of what you usually see here is bellies and babies.
When people with toddlers and young children ask if I do family photos, I always warn them that I’m not one to do a posed, all eyes on me, group shot. Here’s why: Look up the definition of “family” and you’ll probably find something about blood relatives, sharing the same mother or father, living under one roof, etc. I hope you’ll agree with me that “family” has a much greater meaning than that. I think those posed group shots say as much about your family as the dictionary definition. So…yes! While my sessions always have the little ones as the primary focus, I will do family photos. If you *really* want a posed shot, you can probably convince me to do it (I’m nice like that), but for the most part…I just want you to be you, doing what families do. Your kids will probably agree…it’s much more fun that way!
So here are some shots of a wonderful family who wasn’t afraid to just be themselves.

Thank you to the O family for a fun session!

Olivia. She was a sweet newborn when I photographed her last year and now a sweet one-year-old with lots of personality. Seriously, sooo cute – I had a little trouble narrowing down images to share from her session.

And her nursery is one of the most lovely rooms I’ve seen. You can’t see all of the little things here, but Olivia’s mom included lots of vintage touches which, if you know me, is totally up my alley!

I think we wore each other out, but it was totally worth it!

It was a fun morning I got to spend with these two charming boys… giggling, running, and hiding.

I even got a big kiss from this guy…

And we ended the session with mud!

Seriously, things got pretty messy.

It was an incredibly memorable time with a really great family – thank you!

Claire was just over 2 months old for our session and already getting so big! She started out on the calm side, but I got to see many sides of her during our time together.

Crying? Yes. Still totally adorable? Yes!

And finally, I thought I’d include this shot of her feet as an example of just how much the little things change in only two months!

Sure they’re still little, but they’re definitely not newborn baby feet. Or am I the only one who sees this because I’ve spent too much time looking at baby feet close up?

This is Liam.

Utterly adorable, with the purest ivory skin.
